The Union of Engineers and Technicians of Serbia is a voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit, scientific, interest, professional, non-party organization of engineers and technicians and their organizations in the Republic of Serbia, founded on the basis of free associating. UETS is open for cooperation with other scientific, commercial and other organizations on the basis of mutual recognition, mutual respect and independence in work. UETS is organized for the purpose of realization of the aims and tasks of mutual and general purpose and interest.

Nikola Tesla, American scientist of Serbian origin, gave his greatest contribution to science and technological progress of the world as the inventor of the rotating magnetic field and of the complete system of production and distribution of electrical energy (motors, generators) based on the use of alternate currents. His name was given to the SI unit for magnetic induction ("tesla").
During Tesla`s visit to Belgrade, on June 1-3, 1892, he was named as first Honorable member of the Association of Serbian Engineers.
